Court upholds death sentence for killer of Lebanese Dentist at Avenues

The Cassation Court upheld the death penalty against the main suspect in the killing of a Lebanese dentist at the Avenues Mall in 2012. The court also upheld the life sentence for the suspect’s three accomplices.

The incident happened in December 2012. Samir Yousef Jaber, 26, a Lebanese dentist was repeatedly stabbed with the cleaver following a disagreement with the four young men over a parking space at Avenues Mall. Security forces arrested the murderer 24 hours after the incident.

The prime suspect was found guilty of first degree murder, based on investigation that indicated that he stalked the victim at the mall with an intention to kill him, and bought a knife from a supermarket inside the mall to commit his crime. The suspect had admitted to buying the knife, stabbing the victim in the chest then throwing the knife in a trash can near the mall and escaping to his Sulaibiya home.
