India is not a nation, nor a country. It is a subcontinent of nationalities. We must pledge to our country , its fortunes and its sacred honor. I feel very proud to say ‘Saare Jahan Se Achha , Hindusitaa Hamara’ India is my country, my motherland. I love it and I am proud of it. In population it is second only to China. India has a rich and glorious past. Once it was the seat of learning. Students from all over the world used to come here to study. Indian culture spread abroad. My country abounds in glorious historical buildings and scenes. There is not a tourist who does not visit the TajMahal — the symbol of eternal love or Kashmir, the heaven on earth. India is guarded by the mighty and magnificent mountain range of Himalayas on one side.

My country is a land of temples, mosques and churches, great rivers and vast fertile plains of the Ganges and the highest mountain of the world. It is the land where civilization first blossomed in the world. Times changed. India fell on evil days. Wave after wave of invaders came and plundered India. India became a slave country. 'The foreign rulers exploited her as much as they could. India became independent in 1947. The foreign rulers went away. Under the able leadership of Pt. Nehru the country marched towards progress. New industries were set up. Trade increased. And I am sure that one day India will shine as the brightest star in the galaxy!

India is the largest democracy of the world. We Indians enjoy freedom of speech, worship and press. All citizens have equal rights. India is rich in natural resources, yet her inhabitants are poor. Already Indian goods are being exported to other countries. New methods of agriculture are being used to increase food production. It has already become self-sufficient in food. In the field of science and literature, India has produced eminent people like Rabindranath Tagore, Sir C.V.Raman, Sir Jagdish Chandra Bose and Shri H.N.Bhabha. It is the land where civilization first blossomed in the world. Our fields are fed with perennial waters of the rivers. The Future India of my dream is like a banyan tree spreading its roots and branches far and wide.

Jana GanaMana by Rabindranath Tagore was officially adopted by the Assembly’s the Indian national anthem in 1950.The first two verses of VandeMataram by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee was adopted as the National song of India in 1950. The most beautiful flower Lotus is the national flower while Ganga is the longest and the national river of India. Bengal tiger ,the largest carnivore is found only in the Indian subcontinent and can be found in most regions of the country and hence it is the national animal. India is my first love and I would readily lay down my life for it if need be.

Once our Prime Minister Narender Modi told “I will make such a wonderful India that all abroad people will stand in lines to get a visa for India. On the social and cultural scene, India's Bollywood in Mumbai has become the world's biggest producer of full length movies, and the movie industry employs large number of young artists and technologists. Industrial and scientific development is also helping our agricultural industry, and India today is the largest producer of milk in the world, with over 80 million tons a year.

So,Friends let us awake , arise and act to make India a better place.
