3,500 driving licenses cancelled

Since a decision to cancel the driving licenses of expats who changed their professions and don’t meet the conditions for getting driving license was issued last year, a total of 3,572 licenses were cancelled from Nov 2014 till May 2015. This was informed by Interior Ministry’s Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs Maj Gen Abdullah Al-Muhanna. Until now, 33 expats have been arrested for driving without having a valid driving license and will be deported, he said.

He also said that the speed cameras across the country been upgraded. "We have changed the direction of taking shots of speeding vehicles to be from the front in some cameras while retaining shooting from the rear. And we are rotating the shooting angles gradually", he said. He also revealed that the number of speed violations registered by point to point cameras, especially on Nuwaiseeb Road in both directions, reached 499,882 in 2014.

Currently, there are 104 speed cameras on various roads of Kuwait in addition to 139 monitoring cameras that are connected to the control room, and 18 mobile speed cameras in vehicles.
