Seasonal thunder storms hit Kuwait

The thunder storms in Kuwait are caused by low pressure weather coupled with thunder clouds, scattered rain and fresh winds, head of the Meteorological Department Mohammad Karam said Tuesday.

The thunder storm season begins in April and lasts until end of May, Karam told KUNA, during which the weather would be unstable coupled with hail.

Karam said the wind changed from south easterly to north easterly at a speed of 25-50 kilometer per hour.

He said the amount of rain reached 18mm in Al-Jahra city, 17mm in Abraq Al-Kabari area and Al-Abdali, 1.5mm in Salmiya, four mm in Kuwait airport and 1.3mm in Sulaibiya.

However the navigation at Kuwait International Airport and Shuwaikh Port has not been affected by thunder storm and heavy rain in the country on Tuesday.
