Dar al-Athar al-Islamiyyah hosted Indian Night

Dar al-Athar al-Islamiyyah, a Kuwaiti cultural organization based around the private art collection owned by Sheikh Nasser Sabah al Ahmed al Sabah, hosted Indian Night titled ‘The Rhythm of Kathak’ with famous Kathank dancer Ms Mahua Shankar and team. The night also presented famous Sarangi musician Murad Ali Khan with his soulful performance in Sarangi accompanied by Shuheb Hasan on Harmonium and vocals and Zakir Husain on Tabla.

The event held at Amricani Cultural Centre, Kuwait City was attended by large number of art lovers and invited dignitaries. Indian Ambassador to Kuwait HE Sunil Jain and Dr Gargi Jan were the Chief Guest. Earlier Mr Sabah Al Rayas of Dar al Athar al Islamiyyah welcomed the audience, which includes dignitaries of various nationalities. Well Known Indian businessman and Art Enthusiast Mr Anant Kapadiya introduced the artist to the audience.

Mahua Shankar begins the evening with an invocation to lord Krishna. She interacted with the audience and introduced various steps in Kathak by relating the rhythm of music with our daily chores. "Rhythm is related to our normal life. Even our heartbeats are in a rhythm", she said while presenting various stories in the form of Kathak. Her presentation of 'Little Krishna eating Butter' mesmerized the audience and was well accepted with big applause.
