Report on 'Monkey escape from zoo'is false - Authorities

No escapee monkeys on the loose have been found, leaving their cages behind in the Omariya zoo to check out the sights in nearby residential areas as has been talked about on the social media, an official said on Saturday.

Reports of mass escape by a large number of disgruntled monkeys from the zoo are "totally false", said public relations director at the Public Authority for Agriculture and Fisheries (PAAF) Shaker Awadh, in statements to KUNA.

He said PAAF would exercise its option to take legal measures against those passing around unfounded rumors through the social media networks with the intention to frighten the public.
