ASSE Kuwait Chapter announces ASSE GCC HSE Excellence Award – 2015 Winners

American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), Kuwait Chapter is a premier voluntary, non-profit making Health, Safety and Environmental organization, which strives to provide professional guidance, training, consultancy and resources to the industrial and social sectors in the region.
To honour the private sector companies for their leadership, excellence and exceptional performance in the field of Health, Safety and Environment in the Gulf Region, AMERICAN SOCIETY OF SAFETY ENGINEERS – KUWAIT CHAPTER organised the ASSE-GCC HSE Excellence Award 2015 ceremony on 22nd April 2015 at Hilton Resorts Kuwait.
The award program started with, Kuwait National Anthem and the welcome note from Mr. Mohammed Riaz Sherif, President, ASSE-Kuwait Chapter, He briefed about the Chapter activities and its objectives to the huge gathering. Mr Dinesh Dutta Act Secretary and Treasurer ASSE Kuwait Chapter facilitated the event.
Mr. Fadhel Al-Ali, Chairman of ASSE-Kuwait Chapter in his address highlighted the importance of this award program and the value each company is giving to this evidence based award, which showcases successful business models from each organizations that uphold HSE as a business value. He explained about the Main theme of the competition “You Perform We recognize”. He appreciated all the committee members for putting their efforts to make this program a grand success.
Mr. Mohammed AL Farhoud Act CEO and MD Planning, Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, State of Kuwait delivered the keynote speech on behalf of the Chief Guest Mr. Nisar Al Adsani CEO of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation. He congratulated all the award-winning companies and appreciated the initiatives of ASSE Kuwait Chapter for promoting the HSE performance in private sector companies in the GCC region. He highlighted the importance of HSE and the present day challenges with the Oil Sector & Other Industries in this region.
Mr. Mr. Dave Geer, the IADC Regional Rep in the Middle East addressed the gathering and acclaimed ASSE initiatives and shared the pleasure getting associated with the ASSE.
Mr. Salem Al Azmi – HSE Manager Petrochemical Industries Company in his speech emphasised on the importance of rewarding the contactors.
There after Mr. Bala Siva Sreekanth, Director ASSE-GCC HSE Excellence Award 2015 Committee, briefed about the award categories and criteria used to evaluate each company HSE management system and their HSE performance. He thanked all the companies who participated in the award program. He also briefed about the benefits of the award program, which includes motivating companies to excel their HSE performance year by year, setting new benchmarks each year to improve the company image. He also informed that, As part of the its social responsibility ASSE KC has introduced new award this year for Management of Driving Safety and three best organisation were recognised for good driving safety initiatives / programs. He also informed that GCC HSE award program was much appreciated by the adjudication panel judges from the US and wished to be sharing with other chapters of the ASSE in USA.
Several Private Sector organizations of GCC Countries including Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Qatar , UAE had participated by submitting award applications.
The recognition ceremony was followed by the official release of the award “NEWS FLASH”.
There after awards were given to the winning companies by Chief Guests.
