Imparting the Initial Lessons of Democracy

India International School Mangaf was under the election fever for the past one week. The election was administered for the Student Council 2015-16 on 19 April, in a democratic way on par with the Indian general election procedures,. Students, teachers and other staff casted their votes at five different polling stations arranged in the school premises. Each booth was monitored by a Presiding Officer and a Polling Officer. The polling which commenced at 8 a.m. continued till 11.30 a.m.in the same fervor achieving an aggregate of 92 %.



The privileged voters, students of classes VIII-XII, seemed to be very excited as they were given the rare opportunity to enjoy the practical knowledge of the real election, when they were waiting for their turn with the voters’ ID cards in their hands.



The whole election procedure was administered in a systematic and disciplined way by the Presiding and Polling Officers. A veteran team of teachers undertook the Counting Procedure and the result was announced by the Chief Election Commissioner (The School Director, Mr. Malayil Moosa Koya ) at 1.15 p.m.



A total of 33 candidates contested for 12 positions and the elected members and their positions are as follow;

Master Stanly Shajan & Ms. Sumayya Ayub - CCA Secretaries
Master Waleed Nabeel & Ms. Suha Yunous - Sports Captains
Master Arsh Irfan - Asst. Head Boy
Ms. Sadaf Mariyam -Asst. Head Girl
Master Jeevan Bijju & Ms. Sheza Mariyam - Asst. CCA Secretaries
Master Absheer Abdulla & Ms. Aysha Fahmida - Asst. Sports Captains
