ASSE Kuwait commemorated World Health Day 2015 by conducting Health Awareness Program and a Technical Meet

American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), Kuwait Chapter is a premier voluntary, non-profit making Health, Safety and Environmental organization, which strives to provide professional guidance, training, consultancy and resources to the industrial and social sectors in the region.

As a part of continuous efforts in its professional journey, ASSE-Kuwait Chapter commemorated the world Health day 2015 on 7th April 2015. The event was organized in Safir Hotel Fintas where the ASSE Kuwait Chapter Act. Secretary Mr. Dinesh Dutta initiated the proceedings and Mr. Sampath Reddy Act President of the chapter gave the welcome address.

The chief guest Dr. Ahmad Al Shatti, Director, Occupational Health department of Ministry of Health Kuwait and the ASSE Kuwait Chapter Advisory Board member, in his address, emphasized on the Theme “How Safe is your Food: from Farm to Plate, Make Food Safe”. He also expressed the concern on Obesity amounts in the community of Kuwait.

Later delegates from Occupational Health Department, Ministry of Health, announced that Sheikhs Fareieha Asabah, Foundation of tolerance and Peace have recognized and honored Dr. Ahmad Al Shatti with ‘The Ambassador of Tolerance and Peace’. This has enthralled the audience and was welcomed as with laud of applause. Dr. Shatti was felicitated with a memento on this occasion by the foundation.

ASSE Advisory committee member Mr. Ashok Garlapati, acclaimed the support of Dr. Ahmad Al Shatti to ASSE Kuwait chapter from its inception.

Mr. Jignesh Shah, Head of Occupational Health & Environment Committee, briefed on the the theme “Food Safety” and importance of the World Health day 2015. He also introduced the speaker Dr. Mohan Rao, Sr. Physician in Occupational Health Department of KNPC who has presented a health awareness session on “Significance of Vitamin D”.

Later, Mr. Ali Hassan, Club Manager from KOC Sports Centre demonstrated fitness exercise for the audience and was well appreciated.

Shuaiba Industrial Medical Centre (SIMC) facilitated health checkup facilities for the audience to check their blood sugar, blood pressure, LFT and body mass index.

The Health Program was followed by a technical session on “The Power of Spatial Analysis in Incident Management Systems” sponsored by M/S Openware. The Technical Meet began with the welcome address by Mr. Ritesh Gupta, Head of Technical Events Committee introduced the speaker Mr. Nikhil Patki Senior GIS Consultant at M/S Openware. Mr. Nikhil in his presentation emphasized on Geographic information solution, its essentiality in the complete lifecycle of incident management; from call-routing to the appropriate departments, identifying the location of the emergency, ensuring public safety first responders get to the right incident at the right time, to providing valuable incident situational awareness etc.

GIS-centric incident management solution helps optimize the dispatch mission with:
• Identifying the nearest unit through vehicle and/or resource management and tracking
• Premise history and dispatcher situational awareness
• Mobile and in-vehicle mapping using remotely accessed data

This presentation provided an overview on the vital role GIS plays during an emergency situation and how safety dispatchers can leverage spatial relationships to better response to crisis. A business card was picked from the drop box in a lucky draw organized by Ms. Alia, Manager, M/s OPENWARE and handed over a gift to the winner.

The chief guest for the day Dr. Ahmad Al Shatti Director Occupational Health department of Ministry of Health Kuwait was honored with memento by the ASSE Kuwait Chapter president. Later, as a token of appreciation, the speakers of the day Dr. Mohan Rao, Mr. Ali Hassan, Mr. Nikhil Patki along with SIMC Team and M/S Openware team who supported the event were presented with a memento.

Mr. Sunil N Sadanandan, Head of Publications Committee gave the vote of thanks with special appreciation to ‘M/S Openware’ for sponsoring the World Health Day program. The event was concluded with a dinner.
