Municipality cracks down on unlicensed vendors; 25 tons of food confiscated

Municipality confiscated about 25 tons of food from 12 unlicensed street vendors in Mahboula neighborhood, of Ahmadi Governorate, and referred them to relevant authorities for legal action, Acting Director General of Kuwait Municipality Ahmad Al-Manfouhi said.

In a press statement on Friday, Al-Manfouhi said that an inspection campaign was launched upon the directives of Minister of State for Municipal Affairs and Minister of Communications Essa Al-Kandari to combat violations of the regulations related to trading in foodstuffs.

He added that he instructed Al-Ahmadi Governorate's emergency team to intensify crack down on unlicensed food vendors.

He underlined the Municipality's keenness on enforcing the laws and confronting any violations related to the citizen's safety, pointing to coordination between the Municipality and the other bodies of Ministry of Interior.

For his part, Yassin Al-Yassin, a Municipality official in Al-Ahmadi, underlined the continuous campaigns launched by the emergency team to counter violators.
