Tuesday, March 24, 2015

Kerela Challengers had no problem dealing with the high goal scoring Curtorcares last Friday to win 4-1. The Kerela Challengers goal keeper had an early scare as he faced a sliding tackle from the Curtorcares attacker. He got back on his feet and did an amazing job for the rest of the match. He was tested immediately and he faced back to back shots on target and he did well to keep all of them out. On the other end, when Kerela was on the attack, a mis-time lob was sent away from goal having only the keeper to beat.

Kerela Challengers took the lead after the keeper failed to gather from a long range shot on target and no.9 Arshed made tucked it in the goal easily.

Soon later Noufal took a shot on goal and it slipped through the Curtorcares keepers hands mysteriously. Curtorcares could not penetrate the defence of Kerela Challengers and they played as a very well organized unit. Ben made it number three as the Curtorcares defenders failed to mark him. Curtorcares tried a lot of change of personnel in the second half to push for a change. Vincy Carvalho pulled one back for Curtorcares. Anas scored the fourth goal for Kerela Challengers to seal the match and a place in the finals.

In the second semi-final Don Bosco have continued their un-beaten run and have reached back to back finals this 2015 season.

Both teams started strongly and were playing positive attacking football. A lot relied on Anthony Rego’s shoulders of Santos United to propel them to the final. Prajot received a good long ball, controlled it well and passed the Santos defense with ease to open the scoring gates for Don Bosco. Santos did well to attack and played well on the counter but they failed find the final finishing today. Captain Godfrey increased Don Boscos lead from the penalty spot as Lloyed was brought down.

Santos pulled one back in the second half with a well-placed shot from Francis to beat the Don Bosco keeper. Don Bosco controlled the center and the game in the second half. After the Santos defender was sent off for an un-necessary foul, it looked more difficult to find the equalizer. Conrad Made it three for Don Bosco from a free kick. Don Bosco will face Kerela Challengers which will be a promising final on April 10th at Bayan Grounds. The 39th UGC tourney is held under the auspices of K.I.F.F.
