AVC took on FC Sparx in the first match and both teams put on a fine display to impress the crowds at Bayan Grounds. The score after full time was 2-2. Braulio gave AVC the lead in the first half. FC Sparx replied with two goals from Shaheer and Hussain. In the second-half Braulios corner kick was deflected in the goal by FC Sparx keeper to bring the game level. After regulation time and extra time, it was spot kicks that declared AVC the winner. They had no trouble beating the keeper. AVC was cool under pressure and made no mistakes with their spot kicks. AVC will meet Kerela Challengers in the quarters.

A few years ago, we were quiet used to see Goa Maroons and Navelim meet mostly in a final or a semi-final, but this time they were drawn together in the first round and Goa Maroons emerged victorious in this match by a margin of three goals. Navelim played most of the match a man down but that did not stop them for playing positive and constructive football. Goa Maroons has continued their good season under their coach Derek. Kevin Vaz first shot on target gave the keeper no chance to make a save. After the first goal they began to keep more possession and keep more control of the game. In the second half, a superb long range effort from Gabriel doubled the lead and an unmarked Steven’s header made it number three for Goa Maroons who will next face Santos United in the quarter finals.

In the last match the hosts UG took on Santos United. Santos United took a quick two goals lead in the first half and surprised the UG defense. Goals were scored by Anthony Rego and John Costa scored for Santos. UG was awarded a penalty and Agnelo converted his spot kick with ease which triggered a comeback. UG turned up the offense and were looking good to equalize. Both teams struggled to gain control of the mid-field and both teams lacked precise finishing. Ronny equalized for UG through his corner kick towards the end of the second half. The match ended in a 2-2 draw. Anthony Rego hit the winner in extra-time and made sure there would be no penalties.
