‘Super Kid’ Award Ceremony Held at ICSK Junior

The Indian Community School Kuwait, Salmiya Junior recently conducted a uniquely designed 'SUPER KID' competition which was a perfect blend of various competitions for Kindergarten section. The ‘SUPER KID’ Award Ceremony event was held on Monday16th Feb, 2015 at ICSK Junior.


Dr. Anitha Unnikrishnan, Ophthalmologist attached to KOC hospital in Kuwait, was the Chief Guest for the function and Mr. Vijay Karayil, Hon. Secretary of the BOT of the ICSK presided over the award ceremony. Mr. K.N.S. Das, General Manager of Lulu Exchange, also graced the event.




The highlight of the event was address by the esteemed Chief Guest Dr. Anitha Unnikrishnan. She was highly appreciative of the various co-curricular activities being conducted by the school. Further, she stressed that such activities are an effective tool for learning and also improve attention span, infuse coordinated motor skills and enhance academic performance of children. Principal in-charge Mrs. Sherly Dennis, in her address, briefly outlined the objectives of the competitions. She appreciated the presence of the guests, the hard work of teachers and the enthusiasm of students in the recently conducted activities. Honorary Secretary to the School Board of Trustees Mr. Vijay Karayil, in his Presidential address, furthered the event by applauding and appreciating the achievements of the school with the team of dedicated teachers, excitement of tiny talents and the support of encouraging parents.



The programme was made colourful with the dances, action songs and oratory skills displayed by Pre-Primary students.
The 'SUPER KID' programme is intended to be the source of encouragement for the children. Each child is seen as strong, capable, independent, curious and full of imagination. The children are empowered to think, question, investigate, explore, and help navigate the journey of learning.



The tiny tots of the LKG and UKG were the stars of the day as they sparkled in their colourful attire. The award ceremony was the culmination of a number of competitions such as Draw and Colour, Word Building, Elocution, Super Sprint and Super dancer for UKG. For LKG competitions included Collage making, Super Singer, General Knowledge, hopping race and Super dancer.



A total of 500 students participated in the competitions and 36 students emerged winners. 12 Super Kids were adorned with crown, sash, certificate and trophy. 12 students were adjudged first runners-up in LKG and UKG each and another 12 students were placed as second runners-up. All winners were awarded with trophies and certificates.

Yet another success story of the premier institution came to a close with a hearty vote of thanks delivered by Vice-Principal Mrs. Murthy followed by handing over a memento, a token of appreciation and gratitude, to Dr. Anitha Unnikrishnan.
