Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah Informatics Award (Shift Kuwait 5), which was launched early in February on the Kuwait Government Online website, has attracted thousands of visitors from 85 countries, 22 days after its launch.

This year's competition titled "Kuwait For Humanity", is meant to showcase the country's prominent charity work.
The term "shift" is Arabic slang for "I've gotten acquainted with".

Member of the Organizing Committee of the Award (Engineer) Bassam Al-Shemmari said in a statement today that participants can still apply for the competition till Saturday February 28.

Al-Shemmari said the competition this year seeks to highlight the humanitarian work of Kuwait and honor His Highness the Amir who was named a "Humanitarian Leader" by the UN in order to raise awareness of global humanitarian work carried out by Kuwait and its various institutions.

He explained that the competition is focusing and documenting humanitarian projects carried out by seven Kuwaiti bodies promoting the great efforts of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and Kuwait, which saw high praise and appreciation by the whole world and the UN body, thus, universally declaring His Highness the Amir as a "Humanitarian Leader" and Kuwait as a "Humanitarian Center".
