Thursday, January 29, 2015

The 66th Republic Day of India was celebrated at India International School with a great deal of patriotic zeal and solemnity. The strong passion and desire to nurture our children with the true Indian values and deep love for our culture encourage us to venture further into every territories, to mark the importance of the day.

The tiny-tots of kindergarten observed the day by engaging in various competitions like Rangoli filling, Jewellery making and Poster making. It was indeed a spectacular sight to see the little civilians moving about in pride, clad in tri-coloured clothes.

Special assemblies were organized by the junior and senior sections of the school bringing the entire student community together under the canopy of patriotism, once again highlighting the slogan ‘Unity in Diversity’. The entire school courtyard was reverberating with the rhythmic beats of patriotic songs.

In the junior school assembly, children came dressed up as eminent personalities like Mahatma Gandhi, Chatrapati Shivaji, Maharana Pratap, Subhash Chandra Bose and Sarojioni Naidu. It was a novel experience for the small kids as these great personalities of the rich history of India walked among them spreading the message of nationalism and universal brotherhood. A spell binding classical dance performance by the students of class II added additional colour to the day.

The high spirited students of class X showcased a skit emphasizing the past and present of India. It was a true eye opener as they reminded the viewers about the hardships that our great national leaders underwent to make our freedom possible. They also made a comparative analysis of the past and present political scenario of India and urged the young generation to be inspired by the role models like the Father of our nation. They concluded the skit by raising a few rhetorical questions to the audience ‘Is it for this that our forefathers strived for?’; ‘What were their goals and what are we heading to?’

It was followed by a remarkable enactment of the past as they recreated Jallianwala Bagh, Simon Commission, Lahore Session of Congress, Khilafat Movement, Assassination of Mahatma Gandhi and other important folios of our freedom struggle.

A thought provoking poem with patriotic fervor, written and presented by Master Anfal Ahmed literally kindled national feelings in the minds of the listeners and reminded them of their personal obligations to the mother land.

The events that followed, included a beautiful piece of dance performance to the tune of ‘Manwalage&Indiawele’ by the students of class VII. The assembly was concluded with a motivational speech by the school Principal, Mr.FM Basheer Ahmed. The students dispersed with the image of the fluttering tricolor in their minds.
