Increase in number of Kuwaitis working in the private sector

An increase of 18.5 percent recorded in the last five years in number of Kuwaiti citizens working in the private sector. Almost 61,652 Kuwaitis work in the private sector as per statistics issued of 2014, which is 9617 citizens more than the number of citizens working in the private sector in 2009, which were about 52,035 citizens.

According to statistics issued by the Central Statistics Bureau, the number of Kuwaiti men working in the private sector increased from 25,197 in 2009 to 29,043 in 2014, which is an increase of 15.3 percent or 3,846 citizens. The number of Kuwaiti women working in the private sector increased from 26,838 in 2009 to 32,609 in 2014, which is an increase of 12.5 percent or 5,771 citizens.

The statistics also indicate that more than one-fifth of the citizens working in the private sector, which is about 44.32 percent, are below 30 years of age while 51.24 percent of citizens working in the private sector are between 30 and 49 years old. Meanwhile, Kuwaiti employees above 60 years do not exceed 0.5 percent while those between the age of 15 and 19 years old do not exceed 2.39 percent.
