Soorya Kuwait Chapter, with UAE Exchange organized “Soorya India Festival 2014”

Soorya Kuwait Chapter, in association with UAE Exchange, staged the “Soorya India Festival 2014”, on the evening of November 13, 2014, at the Indian Community School Auditorium (Sr.), Salmiya, Kuwait.

His Excellency, the Indian Ambassador Sunil Jain inaugurated the festival, which aims to promote international integration through culture, by lighting the lamp, along with Vivek Nair, General Manager, UAE Exchange, Vijay Karayil, President, B.S. Pillai, and General Secretary. The Ambassador appreciated Soorya Kuwait Chapter for its 3excellent efforts in promoting the rich h Indian culture. General Secretary welcomed the Audience.

The first part of the program was a table trio with Sarangi, led by Ustad Rashid Mustafa, one of world best tabla players, supported by Arshad Khan (Tabla), m Shariq Mustafa (Tabla) and Ahsan Ali (Sarangi). They stole the show with their spotless movements on the instruments and succeeded in building up an instant rapport with the audience.

The second part of the program was a Bharatanatyam recital by Nair Sisters, Veena Nair and Dhanya Nair, the leading Bharatanatyam dancers of the country. Both of them were very strong in rhythm and this aspect came through attractively in their recitals, which was a true entertainment for all age groups gathered. Intermittent applause from the audience of all age groups who gathered gave the artistes

Later, the artistes were honored with gifts for their outstanding recitals. Vivek Nair and Vijay Karayil presented the gifts.

Soorya has been disseminating Indian art and culture through music and dance with its 19 chapters all over the world. “We are committed to propagate the rich Indian art and culture with the active support of Chief Patron Dr. B.R.
