ICSK Amman Celebrated Gandhi Jayanti

On 2nd October, India celebrates Gandhi Jayanti, the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, Father of the Nation who gave the world the invincible weapons of truth, non-violence and compassion. The pre-primary and the primary section of the Indian Community School, Amman branch held special assembly to mark the occasion.




The pre-primary assembly started with special prayer, thought for the day depicting the theme and a patriotic group song by the U.K.G. students. The pre-primary students were dressed up as great leaders and personalities of our country like Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Subhash Chandra Bose, Indira Gandhi, Rani Lakshmi Bhai, Mother Teresa, Sarojini Naidu etc and spoke a few words about the same. The solo melodious rendition ‘Yeh Watan’ by Ms. Karen Ann Toby mesmerized the audience.



In the assembly conducted by the primary wing, a skit was staged by the students of Class II which portrayed Mahatma Gandhi’s contribution to the freedom struggle and his teachings. Honesty, non-violence, simplicity, forgiveness were among a few values which were showcased through the skit. It was a wonderful display of the talent of the kids which instilled a sense of pride and honour in each one present in the gathering.



The Principal of the school, Mr. Rajesh Nair addressed the students and gave a brief talk on Mahatma Gandhi’s life and the importance of his teachings in our daily life. The programmes left a positive impact on the students and the staff as these inspired each one to imbibe Gandhiji’s principles and teachings in their lives.
