Bhavanites Raise Fund for the Less Privileged

Bhavanites raised an amount of Kuwaiti Dinars 380 in a very short span of time by forgoing the excessive luxury on their birthdays.
The trend was set when the founder and chairman of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Middle East thought of curtailing the excessive spending habits of the children for the sake of luxury, especially on their birthdays. Children and parents were requested to contribute a small amount of money for their less fortunate counterparts. The idea was well received by the Bhavan family and a charity box was set up within no time.
To ensure transparency, a selected member of the parent community was requested to be part of the initiative and students were requested to deposit any amount of money that they would normally use to buy chocolates for their schoolmates on the occasion of their birthday.
As part of the Founder’s Day Celebrations at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan on the fifth of this month, the charity box was opened in the presence of the teaching fraternity. It was indeed surprising that the children could raise an amount of KD 380 within a very short span of time. The generous chairman of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan contributed KD 120 and that helped the fund mount up to KD 500. The humanitarian aid was then formally entrusted to Ms.Rhoda Muhmood, Director of Kuwait English School, one of the volunteers of ‘Foundation of Hope’, a philanthropic organization committed to supporting the intellectually challenged adults and children.
Mrs.Rhoda Al Muhmood and her team expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Bhavanites. She congratulated the trendsetter Mr Ramachandran Menon, the founder and chairman of Bhavan, Middle East for his generosity and philanthropy. She also thanked all the parents for supporting their children in their acts of humanity and compassion towards their less fortunate counterparts. It was indeed a proud moment for the Bhavanites and the Bhavan family when the spectators and guests gave Bhavanites a booming ovation for their benevolence and sagacity.
