K T Muhammed Patanavedi holds theatre symposium and literary Session

K T Muhammad Patanavedi Kuwait, a forum of theatre lovers founded in the name of late theatre director and playwright K T Muhammed, held a theatre symposium and a session for introducing two newly-published Malayalam books.

Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi Kuwait Chapter coordinator Sajeev K Peter presented a paper on ‘The Relevance of K T Muhammed’s Writings to the Contemporary World’. Well-known theatre activist Babuji Bathery moderated the symposium. V P Mukesh, Rajagopal Edavanath, Muhammad Riyas, Chessil Ramapuram, K P Balakrishnanan, Thomas Panicker, Jaison Joseph, Hameed Keloth, Iqbal Kuttamangalam and Krishnan Kadalundy participated in the discussion that followed.

Two newly published Malayalam books – ‘Veyil Meyunna Pathakal’ (a collection of short stories) written by well-known Gulf Malayali writer Kaipattoor Thankachan and ‘Idavappaathiyile Poomaram’ (a collection of poems) written by Malayalam poetess Lissy Kuriakose, were introduced to the readers in the second session. Malayalam writer Bergman Thomas introduced ‘Idavappathiyile Poomaram while social worker Abdullah Kolarath introduced the book ‘Veyil Paayunna Pathakal’ to the audience. Both Kaipattoor Thankachan and Lissy Kuriakose were honored on the occasion.

Biji Ramakrishnan conducted a quiz program on pseudonyms of popular Malayalam writers. Thomas Cherthala and Shreekumar recited poems. Biju Thikkodi rendered a song. The meeting paid rich tribute to departed celebrities such as Richard Attenborough, Prof U R Ananthamoorthy, Chemanchery Narayanan Nair and Odessa Satyan.

Sunil Cherian, Hamsa Payyannoor, Basheer Batha, Abdulfattah Thayyil, Dilip Naderi, John Mathew, Sabu Peter were among the others who attended the event that was held in United Indian School, Abbassiya. K T Muhammed Patanavedi Kuwait Convener Ragesh Parambath welcomed the gathering while Babu Mambad proposed a vote of thanks. Patanavedi members Shyjith, Aboobakkar, Hassan Koya, Mustafa Maithri, Kunjiraman, Aneesh, Santhosh, Bharathan and Ramakrishnan coordinated the event.
