Wednesday, September 10, 2014

Teachers Day at Salmiya Indian Model School was celebrated with zeal and enthusiasm. The day began with an assembly, very well conducted by the students of class 10. Tribute was paid to the eminent scholar and teacher, Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, by the Head Boy & Head Girl who also honoured the teachers, while a ‘little orator’ delivered a speech in Hindi on the importance of teachers.

Enthusiasm and festivity marked the Teachers Day celebrations. The day had an emotional and recreational touch. The students of grade 10 were in their element when they conducted the programme for the teachers. All preparations were made by the students with complete energy and excitement. There were various games for the teachers and student’s performances included a skit by the students of class 11 and a break dance by the boys of Class 9. Self-governance by the senior students provided them an opportunity to put themselves in the teacher’s shoes and understand what it takes to be an ideal teacher.

“Teacher’s Day is the best occasion to extend sincere gratitude to all the teachers, not only for teaching students but also for being their true mentors and role models. There is no doubt about the fact that it takes an incredible amount of dedication, knowledge and patience to teach a class, full of present day students, who are sharp, inquisitive and real go getters, and that type of responsibility and commitment, makes these teachers real heroes on a daily basis.” The students of SIMS proved beyond doubt and reiterated the fact that teaching is truly a noble profession.

The school management also felicitated the teacher’s for their contribution in the field of education.
