Immigration detectives busted a human trafficking network on charges of trading absconding domestic helpers; the third incident of its kind this month. Investigations revealed that two Ethiopians employed the maids and hired them out for KD 150 a month each. The arrests came after two domestic helpers were caught with a taxi driver, and both had receipts for a certain amount of money in the name of a fake domestic help office. The first Ethiopian suspect confessed to being the ringleader. The second suspect used a forged civil ID of another person to buy a mobile phone SIM. Investigations are still ongoing.
