Risala Study Circle launched “Kalalayam” on Independence Day

Risala Study Circle (RSC) launched a literary society named “Kalalayam” across the gulf countries including Kuwait on 15th August 2014 (Friday), being the 68th Independence Day of India. The ‘Kalalayam’ launching event in Kuwait was conducted in Live Theatre at Kuwait City. Mr. John Mathew, a renowned author in English and Malayalam, inaugurated the event. While delivering the inaugural speech, Mr. Mathew stated that one of the major threats faced by 21st Century is the phenomenon of the ‘widening gap’ between the “haves” and the “have-nots”. “This threat can be tackled by creation of a society which prioritizes human values. This aim can be accomplished by promoting the reading habits in society with right directions and by creating a platform where the creative ideas and thoughts can be shared each other. ‘Kalalayam’ would definitely be taking the aforesaid responsibilities towards the society,” he added.

This inaugural event of ‘Kalalayam” was also graced by the presence of Dr. Mohammad Gharib Hatem, Senior Columnist in Al- Watan Daily. Dr. Mohammad was the chief guest of the program. Mr. Ayanam Riyaz delivered the main speech. Mr. Alavi Saqafi Thanjeri, Mr. Kaipattoor Thankachan, Mr. Sidheeq Valiyakath, Mr. Bergman Thomas, Mr. Farooq Hamadani delivered felicitation speeches. Mr. Abdul Latheef Saqafi, chairman of RSC National Committee, presided over the function. Mr. Abdul Shukoor Moulavi Kaipuram, secretary of ICF Middle East Committee, unveiled poster of the largest Literacy Fest of Kuwait called “Sahithyolsav”, which is scheduled to be held on 24th October 2014 at Abbassia. Mr. Mishab Villyappalli, Kuwait national general convener, presented the key note and Mr. Shamnad Vallakkadavu, Convener of RSC cultural wing, also addressed the gathering. As part of the event, several art and cultural activities, narration of reading experiences and exhibition of wall magazines were also conducted.
