114,000 sick leaves during the first 22 days of Ramadan

Public sector employees took more than 114,000 sick leaves during the first 22 days of Ramadan, a local daily reported yesterday.

The leaves were taken by more than 38,000 employees, or 12.5 percent of the total number of public sector employees that reaches around 305,000. According to the report, the leaves taken between June 28, 2014 and July 20, 2014 cost the state KD 2.2 billion.

The sick leaves were dominated by female employees with 77,000 days, compared to 37,000 days for their male counterparts.
