Bhavan Organized grand Iftar meet

Indian Educational School (Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan) organized a grand Iftar Meet on June 11, 2014 in association with KIG (Kerala Islamic Group) on the school premises. The programme was well attended by more than 600 invitees from all the walks of life including dignitaries and scholars such as Kairali TV fame Thomas Kadav and Mr Sakir Hussain Thuvoor.


The program began with the recitation of Quran. Mr Zubair K.A., the president of KIG inaugurated the function. While speaking on the occasion, Mr Zubair K.A. underscored the importance of Ramadan and the lofty ideals that Ramadan represents. The keynote speaker of the day was the eminent Islamic scholar Mr Sakir Hussain Thuvoor. He emphasised on the importance of inculcating the very essence and fragrance of Ramadan. He observed that the present-day crisis all around the world is mainly because of the increasing materialistic desires and wilful ignorance of the virtues. He also said that self-introspection and leading an upright and righteous life is essential for everyone irrespective of their caste, creed and religion.

Mr EP Prasad represented Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kuwait. Mr Prasad emphasised on the importance of Ramadan and its virtues. He also added that Ramadan is the noblest of all religious observances and is a spiritual journey rather than a mere religious observance as it involves spiritual reflection and spiritual elevation. He thanked everyone for attending the IES Iftar Meet and wished the attendees a blessed Ramadan on behalf of the Bhavan family.

Hundreds of invitees ended their day-long fast together celebrating the true essence of Ramadan in the school auditorium and basketball ground by sitting together on the rugs that were laid all over.

A mass evening prayer was also attended by the invitees. Mr Faisal Vadakkekad, the secretary of KIG Jleeb Area, proposed the vote of thanks. He thanked and praised the efforts of Bhavan’s Management for organizing the grand Iftar Meet. With that, the IES Iftar Meet of the year 2014 was concluded amidst thunderous applause of approval.
