A summit of friendliness over Iftar

‘we are all ambassadors, each one representing our creator’. Said Dr. Mirza Yawar Baig – chairman of Standard Bearers Academy, a corporate consultancy. Dr. Baig, a globetrotting orator and corporate presenter was in Kuwait on Wednesday to deliver the keynote address titled ‘Be Inspired – Be Inspirational’ at a multi-religious and multi-cultural Iftar organized by the Federation of Indian Muslim Associations (FIMA), Kuwait.



Farwaniya Governor Sheikh Faisal Al Humoud Al Malek Al Sabah inaugurated the event held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. ‘I leave my heart here, but I take my body’ quipped Sheikh Faisal, who had to leave the FIMA Iftar for an Iftar at Amiri Divan in honour of visiting Bahrain king.

Ambassadors, Charge d’ Affairs and diplomats from various countries including SAARK, Europe, African and Asian countries attended along with Kuwaiti and Indian dignitaries, leaders and members from member associations and people from all walks of life attended the function.

‘Just like one Amir in Kuwait, there is one God that unites us all this evening’ said Indian Ambassador Sunil Jain during the chief guest address. Spanish Ambassador Angel Losada, who shared the table with Indian Ambassador, said Iftar reminds family gatherings which is an old European custom. Dr PR Srinivasan, a senior scientist commented it is heartening to know organizations are distributing Iftar kits to labour camps.

Ambassador Sunil Jain distributed the FIMA memento to main sponsor Sadia and cosponsors TVS Travels & Cargo and Lu&Lu Hypermarket.

The program started with recitation of versus from holy Qura’an by Shuaib. FIMA Secretary General Hidayathullah welcomed the audience which presided by FIMA President Siddeeque Valiyakath. FIMA Joint Treasurer Mohammed Manshauddin read the message of Sheikh Ebraheem Duaij Al Sabah while FIMA Vice President proposed vote of thanks. FIMA Treasurer Salim Desai and Joint Secretary Abdulrazak Alwany coordinated the program.
