Several tons of expired, spoiled food busted

Wednesday, April 23, 2014

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry inspectors busted several tons of expired and spoiled food in an operation considered the largest in food inspection history in the country in terms of the size of the material seized in a single raid.

While they indicated that the volume of the seized amount is yet to be fully determined, according to Kuwait Times report, so far it is clear that the amount is the largest that ministry inspectors have ever dealt with.

In fact, the amount was so large that the ministry used help from Kuwait Municipality and others to sort items in the four warehouses and destroy the bad food products, reports added.

The warehouses belonged to a local food supplier that provides various food products to restaurants around Kuwait. Items seized include meat products, fish, poultry and other ingredients, the sources said.
