The Central Bank will not require banks in Kuwait to share customer information with foreign governments, Central Bank Governor Dr Mohammed Al-Hashel said during a press conference yesterday.

“Both the Kuwait constitution and the Central Bank’s laws guarantee the banking security of all clients, regardless of nationality", Kuwait Times daily reported quoting him as saying.

In case, if the foreign government requests, banks must ask the permission of the clients. If they refuse, Kuwait banks cannot share any banking details and we will simply inform the authorities that the client refused, said Hashel.
