Five members of the previous committee voluntarily vacated their positions as stipulated by the KSNA rules. The reconstitution of the Ad-Hoc committee for the year 2014 took place at a meeting presided over by KSNA Chairman Soorya Krishnamoorthy and was attended by representatives of Malayali associations at Indian Community School, Salmiya.

The new members of the Ad-Hoc committee are: Babu Chakola, K P Balakrishnan, Jayan T V, Iqbal Kuttamangalam and Chessil Ramapuram.

Earlier, Krishnamoorthy, at a meeting of the Ad-Hoc committee, asked KSNA Kuwait Chapter Vijay Karayil and Coordinator Sajeev K Peter to continue their posts. Three members – B S Pillai, Adv Johney Kunnil and Nixon George—will also continue as Ad-Hoc committee members.

An Advisory Committee was also constituted with Thomas Mathew Kadavil, Shemejkumar K K, Babuji Bathery and Sunil P Antony as its members.

Krishnamoorthy, addressing the community representatives, said, Gulf chapters have been constituted by the Akademi’s as a new initiative to promote, encourage and recognize expatriate artists who contribute to various fields of arts. “Initially, the focus is on theatre though we propose to recognize and promote pravasi artists in other fields such as dance and music as well,” Krishnamoorthy said.

He said the just-concluded theatre festival held in three Gulf countries has been very successful. “As a first step, it was huge success. I also received very positive reports about the theatre festival that was held in Kuwait in February,” he said. Congratulating the Ad-Hoc committee for successfully conducting the drama festival, Krishnamoorthy said KSNA will conduct amateur theatre competition this year also and requested the pravasi theatre troupes to start preparations for it.
