Indo-Kuwait Friendship Society conducted workshop on Vedic Maths.

On 1st November, IKFS celebrated the 3rd anniversary of its foundation at Salmiya Indian Model School, Salmiya. The occasion was graced by many eminent personalities like Justice Ravindar Sachar, former Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court and the Head of the Sachar Commission (appointed in 2005 by the Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh), Sami Bubere- Editor of Indo-Gulf times & Subhe Ummeeth magazines from Mumbai along with other distinguished Indian and Kuwaiti personalities.
During this event, they had arranged a 2 hour training classes “free of charge” for the school students which covered memory tactics in mathematics .The workshop was conducted by Mr Dhaval Bathia, who is an internationally famed Trainer, Vedic Mathematician, memory expert and author of several book.
A brief information about Mr Dhaval Bhatia:
Born in a business family from Mumbai, he was an able student. He graduated from Narsee Monjee College and then undertook his ACS and LLB studies. During his early college life, he came across Vedic Mathematics, a set of techniques designed by an ancient Indian spiritual guru. The techniques helped him calculate complex mathematical calculations with ease. Fascinated by these he started spreading them amongst his teachers and colleagues. He began conducting workshops and seminars.
He started with a game and he divided the audience into two groups – Team Rockstar and Team Superstar.
He gave the figure below and asked us to identify the number of faces in the Picture below.
Then we were taught how to multiply any number with another number and obtain the answer in one step through the I.X.I system. E.g. = 34 *21
Method:
4 x 1= 4 is I
(3 x 1) + (4 x 2) = 11 is X
So 1 carries up
3 x 2 = 6 + 1 =7
So answer is 714
He showed some other tricks like how to find a person’s birth date, number of brothers and sisters a person has, how to remember something easily by forming a story out of what is given.
Actors Shahid Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, Actress Alia Bhatt and the double centurion cricketer Rohit Sharma are his students.
He has written four books:

• He Swam with Sharks for an Ice-cream
It was a useful workshop as it made me quicker and better in maths.
I can now multiply and find out the answer of a given number within 1 step and I no longer need to use 3 steps.
