Dawat, a fine-dining Restaurant offers something for every palate from Indian and Chinese Cuisine, as well as an ambience for every mood. As we enter Dawat Restaurant which is located at the mezzanine floor of Tawfiq Commercial Complex, Farwaniya, Kuwait we were greeted with a smile by the steward. At the entrance there is a reception and it had a beautiful eye catching picture on the wall. The picture of 2 Indian Ladies looking at each other was designed in a unique black and white and colour combination, which adds to the Indian style of welcoming at Dawat. The ambience and decor of the restaurant was elegant and pleasant.

We choose to sit in the Cabin as we were accompanied with kids and did not want to disturb the other visitors. The cabin that we choose was a 10 seater and had a huge window through which we could see a part of Farwaniya. Kids just loved looking out of the window. We were as usual served with complimentary basket of Papadum, Lime Pickles, Mint chutney and vinegar-soaked Onions on our table. The Steward handed us the menu. The menu was bursting with authentic Indian dishes, with a splash of Chinese Cuisine.

We started our culinary journey with Soups. We ordered Sweet Corn Chicken Soup , Manchow veg Soup and Hot and Sour Chicken Soup . The soups were rich, refreshing and a perfect beginning to the meal. For starters we ordered Seafood Kebab Platter – An assortment of prawns and fish kebabs cooked in tandoor, Chicken Garlic Tikka – Boneless Chicken marinated in garlic and spices cooked in tandoor and for veg we ordered Paneer Tikka Sashlik – Chunks of cottage cheese, onions and capsicum marinated and cooked in tandoor. The starters were served on a bed of whole cabbage leaves on a sizzling plate, topped with French fries. While we savoured the extremely soft and delicious starters, it was time to binge on the main course. For main course we ordered Mixed Bread Basket , Vegetable Biriyani , Chicken Makhni Dilruba – chicken tikka cooked in tomato curry finished with cream, Prawn Goa Curry – Prawn cooked in coconut milk flavoured curry and for veg ordered Tawa Mashroom – Diced mushroom sautéed with onions, tomatoes and fresh coriander and Baingan Ka Bharta – Roasted aubergines sautéed in garlic , tomatoes and onions. The dishes looked extremely tempting and we seriously couldn’t wait to dig in. The meal was sumptuous and we were relishing every single bite of it. It was undoubtedly a delight for us who love the Indian Khanna to its best.

After this spicy and flavourful meal, one must have desert to refresh the palate. For Deserts we ordered Triple Sundae – Choice of 3 scoops of ice-cream with fresh fruits, Kulfi – Home Made Indian Ice-cream which come in two flavours Kesar Pista or Mango and Mango Delight – Mango Cubes with Vanilla Ice-cream topping. Triple Sundae was presented in a unique cone shaped class topped with lot of fruits and 3 variety ice-creams which just looked yum yum. A fabulous way to end the meal.

Eating space in this restaurant is for around 96 diners and has 17 cabins with capacity of 2 to 10 diners. A separate party hall, which can accommodate 50 people with a large TV screen is a good option for small parties and get together. They also offer home delivery service.

To conclude Dawat Restaurant personifies its name in true sense which means “Feast / Party” meaning in Urdu. We enjoyed every bite of our feast of Indian Cuisine that evening and it was truly a fine dining experience.
