Hottest days begin in Kuwait, says Astronomer Adel Al-Saadoun

The hottest forty-day period has began in Kuwait from last Saturday with Bawareh winds, informed astronomer Adel Al-Saadoun. This period normally starts on June 7 each year and continues till July 16 (39 days).

Adel Al-Saadoun said that this period is dominated by North-Westerly winds blowing at speeds reaching 50 kilometers an hour, sometimes accompanied by sand. He said Al-Bawareh are hot dry winds that come from the North-West desert areas and may become quiet sometimes.

He said at times, South-Easterly winds accompanied with humidity as a result of crossing the Arabian Gulf, may also blow. He said the North-Westerly winds blow because of the presence of the seasonal Indian depression which becomes active during this period and causes the winds to blow in from areas with high pressure.
