The influence of cast and religion on the governance in a democratically elected government is not good for the state, said Rev. Dr. Joseph Mar Thoma Metropolitan, the present head of the Mar Thoma Church. The government should not work based on the cast, religion etc factors, he added. He was here in Kuwait to attend Ecilisia - 2013, the Golden jubilee celebration of Malankara Marthoma Sysrian Church Parish in Kuwait

On talking about current political issues in Kerala, Metropolitan said that the KPCC President must be given an appropriate post if he is taken into the government. He also added that it is not a good idea to introduce a post for deputy chief minister as it is not a common one in any other states in our country. It was unfortunate to drag Lulu group chairman MA Yusef Ali into controversies regarding his business projects in Kerala. This will only effect the development of our state, he said.

Dr Philipose Mar Chrysostom Mar Thoma Valiya Metropolitan said that corruption in historical process is inevitable in all movements. Society must transform to avoid this. We cannot achieve this with individual transformation. Our action should be preventive, not that of curative. We should explore the possibilities. There was oil in Kuwait from its beginning. But it is only in 40s the oil was explored, likewise, we should explore the opportunities which are lying under, said Mar Chrysostom, who is also known as the bishop with a golden tongue. In our days, if we do any wrong doings, teachers used to punish us. Our parents appreciated teachers for this punishment, but now if a teacher punishes a student, he will be suspended from his job, he said. We failed to give right direction for our kids. We should look into the realities. Now even when we are praying we close our eyes, this is to HIDE the realities from ourself, he remarked.

The validatory meeting of the year long Golden Jubilee celebrations of forming of Malankara Marthoma Sysrian Church parish in Kuwait and Diamond Jubilee Celebration of the Episcopal Consecration of the Most Rev.
