Tuesday, November 6, 2012

The Indian Community School, Amman Branch, held a Fancy Dress Competition for the tiny-tots on 21st October 2012. The theme of the competition was ‘Vegetables’. This topic was selected to make the children aware of the health benefits of vegetables.

Children were asked to dress up as their favorite vegetable and were encouraged to speak about themselves and their favorite vegetable. The event turned out to be very colourful and attractive as 87 LKG students came dressed as different vegetables like carrot, peas, lady’s fingers, cabbages, tomatoes, cauliflowers etc. The zeal of the parents towards the event was apparent as different types of vegetables trotted themselves onto the stage.

The competition was an entertaining and educating experience for the children. Children learnt that vegetables are full of vitamins, fibers and minerals that are important for our body. They were also told that eating vegetables keeps the body circulation happy and that they should be eaten raw for maximum benefits. This event provided an important message to all children that a diet with lots of vegetables is good for the body and mind, enhances personal appearance and makes one feel good.

Students were given participation certificates for their enthusiastic involvement. Sakina Taziun of LKG-A, Sreenanda Sreejith of LKG-B and Maryam Chorghay of LKG-C gave award-winning performances. The Principal thanked all the students for their whole hearted participation and awarded merit certificates to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd winners in the contest.

Indeed, the involvement of parents, the enthusiasm of children and the hard work of teachers brought out the best in the students making the show a great success.
