‘Where did you go during vacations?’ is the first question that students ask when the school reopens after vacations. Yes! The idea of a perfect holiday that most people dream of is a trip to a touristic place.

When work is heavy and life becomes dull, it is necessary to spend some time to refresh ourselves. One common way to do this is to go for travelling. By travelling we can explore things that we know and new things that we don’t know.

If we just sit at home, we will become narrow minded looking at the four corners of the wall. Whereas while travelling, we get an opportunity to meet various kinds of people, understand different cultures and traditions, get mesmerized by the scenic beauty of places and monuments.

Travelling makes us alert as we observe a lot of things. The vast knowledge that we get while travelling is a benefit for a lifetime. It is greatly helpful for students if they visit places mentioned in their textbooks.

Travelling is the base of tourism industry. By travelling, we not only visit places but it is an added advantage as we come across many hotels, resorts, airports, railways as well as handicrafts and the like. Also, the passion towards photography increases. Travelling also improves our physical and mental health.

Though reading travel- books give us knowledge, this knowledge gets multiplied when we visit places. For example, we may have read about Taj Mahal and seen its pictures. But to know its artistic beauty and historical carvings, we have to actuallytravel!!!

Every year during summer I travel with my family members to interesting places in India. Two places that I frequently visit during summer are Ooty and Kodaikanal, famous hill stations in South India. My experience in these places were fabulous. I was amazed by the scenic beauty, smell of herbs, horse rides and races, great food, cool atmosphere, etc. I truly enjoy travelling.
