Large number of violations for the rules which ban outdoor work during the peak summer season from 11am-4pm, are being committed this year by companies reported Kuwait Times daily.

The Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor (MSAL) has implemented a ban on outdoor work from June 1 to August 31 to protect laborers from the exasperating summer heat. Workers are prohibited from toiling in open areas as temperatures soar to over 52 degrees Celsius.

Kuwait Times reported about violations to this rule happening in and around Kuwait city.

The Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor’s Undersecretary Assistant for Labor Jamal Al- Dousari said that nearly 278 private companies violated the ban on outdoor work between 11am-4pm.

According to Al-Dousari, nearly 38 sites to were visited to ensure that they comply with the ban. At least 400 workers were caught working and were let off with a warning. If they are caught again, the company will face stricter penalties. Another team from the Ministry of Labor will be delegated to monitor the companies who violate the ban. The cleaning companies in Kuwait are being closely watched but many are abiding by the law, Kuwait Times daily reported.
