Security campaign in Jleeb arrest 1000s of expats

A sudden police raid in Jleeb Al Shuyoukh on Tuesday evening resulted in the arrest of more than 1500 people found to have violated residency law and committed various crimes.

Security forces headed by acting undersecretary of Ministry of Interior Lt Gen Sulaiman Al-Fahd and a number of senior officials stormed Jleeb Al- Shuyoukh area yesterday. A security source said the preliminary number of violators arrested in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh during the security campaign is 1,550 from both genders. Most were in violation of iqamas and Article 20 holders.

A security source said policemen stormed several brothels and international call centers along with local liquor factories and prostitution dens. The crackdown triggered panic situation with shops shuttering down and people fleeing to their houses. Security men were seen going from houses to houses in some areas checking the civil id of people residing in those houses, local dailies reported.
