War Settles Nothing

War Settles Nothing

War is just something that disheartens people. We often feel in many cases that by war we can win everything. But it actually doesn’t settle anything, it further worsens the situation.

History teaches us that, war doesn’t settle any problem but creates more problems and generates greater tensions which sooner or later, results in another war, and thus the process continues.

The aim of a war is to defeat the enemy, either by hook or crook, regardless of the cost in terms of human life and the expenditure on weapons and ammunition of various types. Wars always reoccur like epidemics, despite the worldwide call for peace.

It is said ‘Pen is mightier than a sword’.

Let’s take for example, the wars between India and Pakistan. Has it helped in any way? The conditions have just gone from back to worse.

The only thing we achieve by fighting these wars is, it has helped in reducing the population and making our country beautiful with more memorials like India Gate etc. The only way to settle problems is to sit together and find out remedies.

United Nations is playing a wonderful role in achieving this. So we must all abide by the rules of UN and must learn to live peacefully with each other.

Albert Einstein has said, “If World War 3 will be fought by nuclear weapons, World War 4 will be fought by sticks and stones.”

Very often when we turn through the pages of our history textbook we read about Mughal Emperors and appreciate them but is there truly any great reason to do so. Had all the rulers come together and discussed the problems there would have been no wars. There must be a change in the thinking process in order to prevent wars. It just makes people mad and hungry for revenge.

It is brave who fight for peace and cowards fight wars.

The father of our nation Mahatma Gandhi had the support of so many Indians and he could have easily defeated the Britishers by fighting wars but instead he decided to gain independence by PEACE and Ahimsa. Hence he followed the methods of Satyagraha and non-violence.

It was the same with Nelson Mandela.

These are the signs of true leaders. Hence both of them are truly great.

Neither a wise man nor a brave man lies down on the tracks of history to wait for the train of the future to run over him.

Dwight D Eisenhower: Quoted

“Together we must learn how to compose our differences, not with arms, but with intellect and decent purpose.”

So remember wars only leads to bloodshed, pain, agony and misery. So follow peaceful means to achieve the right aim.
