Veteran Cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar Conducted   Two-day Cricket coaching camp in Kuwait

Mr. Dilip Vengsarkar, India’s former skipper of Indian Cricket team, chairman of selectors and famous personality in the world of cricket was here in Kuwait at the British School of Kuwait (BSK) to train the young generations in the field of cricket.

This great event was made possible by M3 event management in association with ProSports, British School of Kuwait (BSK) and British Academy of Sports (BSK).

The cricket coaching camp was held for 2 days on the 14th and 15th of September. The coaching started at 8.00am and went on till 11:00AM. It was a lifetime experience for the kids present there. The event started at 7.50 AM with the grand entry of Mr. Vengsarkar accompanied by Mr. Asif of ProSports. Later he was given a warm welcome by Indian cultural Society (ICS) team who presented him with a bouquet.

Mr. Vengsarkar was assisted by Mr. Jagat Joshi, the cricket coach at FAIPS and a level-1 certified cricket coach and Mr. Gopakumar, Medical coordinator for Kuwait Cricket and also a level-1 certified cricket coach, Cricket player and a certified coach Mr. Nikhil Kulkarni. Master Faizan and Master Shantanu assisted the kids by volunteering in the coaching session.

Nearly 40 kids and 15 adults turned up to get trained from this great player. The Kids were divided into two groups according to their ages. One group for kids under 12 and the other for the kids under 14.

The grand session began by a formal introduction of the kids and then followed by some valuable tips on batting given by Mr. Vengsarkar. He advised the players to use their own style of batting, and not to copy others.

He shared his tips on the passion towards the game, importance of daily practice, focus on the game, discipline etc. To be a good cricketer he explained a few tips: While holding the bat, maintain a gap of 6 inches between the two feet, keep the head still, bat to be in front of the pad while playing a forward defense, attempt to hit the ball by keeping the left hand straight and maintain a positive attitude.

He emphasized that if one wants to be a good player, then one should have three qualities-Passion, Focus and Discipline. He also showed the kids how to play the different strokes like back foot defense, front foot drive etc. The kids followed his instructions and learnt a lot from this session.

"I am very impressed with the performance of the kids. All the kids gathered here were very enthusiastic and full of energy. They are really talented and have a lot of passion for this game. They have a bright future ahead of them", Mr Vengsarkar told to this IIK Young Reporter during the camp.

The kids were then advised to play with each other and he guided them at each step. The kids were happy as they got to interact and meet new cricket lovers from other areas of Kuwait. The kids were all presented with a certificate for their sincere efforts by Mr. Vengsarkar on the second day of coaching. The kids benefited a lot from this coaching and left the premises with a lifetime memory.

"I would surely like to come again”, he said. “Follow the instructions you are getting form coaching camps, Use the guidelines and techniques we seen here today, these will definitely help the kids to excel in the game", he said. He emphasized that the kids should develop their own style of playing and must practice daily.

All the participants were overwhelmed and delighted on getting a refreshing coaching from this great and a veteran cricketer. The participating kids and their parents took photos with Vengsarkar and collected autographs from the veteran. He wished all the kids “All the Best for a Bright Future”.
