The Independence Day of India is celebrated on 15th August every year as a national holiday. On this day India got freedom from the power of the Great Britain. On 15 August 1947, India was declared independent from British colonialism and became the largest democracy in the world.

We struggled for our independence tirelessly and selflessly under the guidance of great leaders like Jawahar Lal Nehru, Mahatma Gandhi, Subash Chandra Bose and Bhagat Singh. Many freedom fighters sacrificed their lives for the independence of India. Some of these leaders chose the path of violence while some chose non – violence but the aim was to drive out the Britishers from the country. Their life is worth inspiration for us. We should be thankful for their tireless efforts.

Independence Day gives an occasion to access the growth of the nation. It plays a vital role in letting people know the glorious past of their nation. It encourages mutual love and harmony among the people and respect for the country. The Prime Minister of India unfurls the flag from ramparts of Red Fort followed by National Anthem. In states, Chief ministers unfurls the flag followed by parade and cultural processions. It is celebrated with the right degree of pomp and pride all over the country.
