India is a republic, and the words spoken by the late former Prime Minister AtalBihari Vajpayee hold great significance. Governments come and go, political parties emerge and fade away. However, the essence of India and its democratic governance must remain constant.
With this vision, the People’s Sovereignty Foundation was established. The Indian Parliament plays a pivotal role in the lives of every individual. Our rights, services, and duties are determined through its activities. The Parliament provides a platform for us to voice our opinions and concerns, and it is our responsibility to actively participate in its functioning. The Parliament is the embodiment of the collective will of the people and the guardian of our democratic values.Construction of the new parliament building began two years ago.
The new building is a part of the redevelopment of the Central Vista, the nation's power corridor. Revamping the three-km road from the RashtrapatiBhavan to the India Gate, constructing a common central secretariat, a new office and residence of the prime minister, and a new vice-president enclave are also part of the project being executed by the Cental Public Works Department.Tata Projects Ltd is constructing the new Parliament building which will have a grand constitution hall to showcase India's democratic heritage, a lounge for members of Parliament, a library, multiple committee rooms, dining areas and ample parking space. It has three main gates – Gyan Dwar, Shakti Dwar and Karma Dwar - and separate entrances for VIPs, MPs and visitors. The material used for the new building has been acquired from across the country.The building can comfortably seat 888 members in the Lok Sabha chamber and 300 in the Rajya Sabha chamber.For a joint sitting of both the houses, 1,280 MPs can be accommodated in the Lok Sabha chamber.
