City bus introduces bus passes system; Added 50 new buses in Kuwait routes.

City Group, Kuwait’s leading listed public transport company and operators of Citybus, launched a new innovative range of Citybus bus passes. In addition, the company also announced that it has taken delivery of 50 brand new Citybus buses, all specially designed for use on its routes in Kuwait.

The new Citybus bus passes cost from 7.5KD for a fifteen day pass for all routes up to 13.5KD for a thirty day pass for all routes. Most passes cost 9KD for thirty days on specified routes. Passes can be bought from either of two central Citybus bus pass outlets, one at Salaam Tower in Malliya and the other at The Citybus Bus Depot at Salmiya.

Citybus has also launched a scheme which provides additional discounts for employers buying multiple bus passes on behalf of their staff. Customers or employers who would like to know more about the new Citybus bus passes can get further information by calling the Citybus hotline number on 1882211.

Clad in Citybus’s distinctive red and white livery, the 50 new buses, which have been specially designed for Kuwait’s roads and climate, were deployed on Citybus routes from January 2011. Each bus takes up to 47 passengers, seated and standing and all are fully air-conditioned with a capacity of 28,000 Kcal/h. The buses, which have been built by the Chinese company Yutong to Citybus specifications, have European style interiors and are powered by Cummins engines coupled with Voith automatic transmission. The vehicles are also fitted with speed restrictors to enhance passenger comfort and road safety.

Richard Woods, Group Chief Executive Officer, City Group said: “This is part of City Group’s KD 1 million programme of investment over the next year in the Citybus fleet and services for Kuwait.” “As a leading provider of public transport in Kuwait, we are dedicated to finding ways to give our customers better value and better quality, as well as ensuring that Kuwait has a public transport system which is world class. “he added.

“The new Citybus bus pass will give customers real savings on their travel costs as well as improved convenience, while our new specially designed buses will provide passengers with enhanced safety and comfort on their journeys, as well as allowing Citybus to increase the frequency of services on some routes”, Richard Woods said.

By the intoduction of passes one thought that there will be competion for KPTC.But the reality is different I feel like stupid having City Bus pass.Though I have City Bus pass but for last two days I have been commuting on KPTC due to irregularity in City Bus service.

It is financial loss for me two ways; one by losing on pass and another deduction in salries due to late at office.

If I take a bus pass for 102 route and I travel by city bus than the busdriver of citybus at darwaza bus stop always says that he will not take the cairo street route and that he will go from above that is the istiqlal street route which links directly to fahaheel express instead of taking passengers on the cairo street route. He avoids the route which is outlined by your company and deviates from the original route always to beat the signal. Please look into the matter and comply as per the companys original route. We passengers are always facing these problems from citybus and not from KPTC which is giving us good service.

Really good news for the daily journey persons. I think the total 50 new-buses prefers only busy & city routes. I'm quite happy if only 2buses will have daily shift transport to JAHRA,SULAIBIYA,AMGHARA routes. Those route peoples really facing hard journey problems. I'm the one. Causing of less buses...

The Public transport in Kuwait does not care for passengers.
Some drivers just are in so much rush that they neglect stops even in the city. As said by the lady passenger the Crowne Plaza stop is missed, but the management will be surprised to know that its missed when the bus is empty, and not when the bus is full.It would had been fine to miss if the bus was full but when empty that is disgusting. During peak hours you will often find 2 or more buses for the same route running parallel to each other, one of them over crowded whereas the other two almost empty. Why can't some passengers from be shifted then, as they are shifted if either of the driver is in rush for what ever reason.
There is no fixed schedule for the buses either, the schedule and the stops are created by drivers as required. Also the frequency on some routes like 13 is very rare. The list is never ending.
No hopes of any improvement either.

Good news for Citybus travelers. Route 51 coming to Kuwait city via Crowne Plaza bus-stop most of the time do not stop at this bus stop to collect passengers. They either go taking a short cut above the bridge without passing the Crowne Plaza bus-stop or else when they come to the bus-stop and see green signal ahead they speed and leave the passengers stranded. The drivers are playing with the passengers having no sense of responsibility. We all have to reach office in time and this creates lot of problems. Secondly in the afternoon after 1 p.m. I suppose there is a break for your buses and there too one has to wait for more than one hour for the same 51 route. Since a year I left the city bus and now traveling by KPTC bus pass reaching in time to office in Sharq. Kindly solve this problem immediately to enable us travel by CityBus.

Yes, a good move. I am a regular passenger of city bus. Fed up with the driver's irritating treatment. I felt it too many times and there is no any facility to give a complaint. The phone whih they provided on ticket never pick up? Due to the driver's hurry there is no enough time even to get down. If the passenger fell down what will happen? Let the management think about it and take a favorable action for passengers as they are paying 200 fills for each travel.

Well Done City Bus. Soon KPTC will be out from Kuwait road. They should do this very long back. Think about one pass system for both KPTC and CityBus.
