MEW finalized plans to deal power consumption during Ramadan

Wednesday, July 21, 2010

The Ministry of Electricity and Water has finalized a plan to tackle the expected increase in demand on power and water during the holy month of Ramadan that is arriving soon.

Minister of Electricity and Water Dr. Bader Al-Shurian instructed the Higher Committee for Rationalization and the Field Committee not to ask mosques to rationalize power consumption in order to allow worshippers to perform the Tarweeh Prayers (night prayers) during Ramadan.

The ministry will put all its sectors on alert during Ramadan, particularly the Emergency Sector which receives complaints and fix power problems in all areas.

According to the plan, power generators will be available in 7 centers affiliated to Emergency Sector.

Meanwhile, the Executive Committee for rationalization of power and water in State institutions held a meeting chaired by the ministry's undersecretary Eng. Ahmad Al-Jassar in the presence of the representatives of ministries and government bodies, as well as a number of assistant undersecretaries in the ministry, to discuss a number of issues.

During the meeting, the Australian Low Energy Company conducted a presentation regarding the applications used in Australia to ration power and conserve energy.

At the end of the meeting, Al-Jassar thanked all government bodies for their cooperation to ration power, expressing hope that they will intensify rationalization procedures in order to achieve desirable aims and preserve power.
