Kuwaiti doctor warns against using e-cigarettes

Tuesday, July 20, 2010

A health expert has doubted that using the electronic cigarette can help smokers quit the harmful habit.

Dr. Sami Al-Nasser, member of the National Program for Combating Smoking, said in an interview with KUNA that such an allegation is not based on scientific conclusions. Moreover, there have been no assertions from authoritative organizations, namely the World Health Organization, that the fake cigarette is effective in aiding the addicted to quit smoking.

An electronic cigarette, e-cigarette or personal vaporizer, is a battery-powered device that provides inhaled doses of nicotine by way of a vaporized solution.

Dr. Al-Nasser indicated at affirmations by several doctors and experts that the electronic cigarette is also harmful for it also contains nicotine, and expressed regret that its usage has been spreading, along with advertisement campaigns potraying it as healthy, as well as luring teenagers to use it with various flavors and colors.

"Nicotine regardless of the inhaled amount remains a high hazard for the human health, and since these cigarettes supply the human body with nicotine, it is certainly not any better than the traditional cigarette," he warned.

The doctor also warned against usage of this device by more than one person for it may carry communicable diseases.

Smoking causes death of more than five million people per year in the world.

Its the will power. If you have it, you can do it. My dad was a chain smoker. He told me that he started smoking at the age of 12. He smoked till he was 62. Then one day he heard that there was a fatwa on SMOKING, which states that smoking is haraam because the body belongs to God Almighty and that we humans are merely caretakers. On the Day of Judgement, God will hold us accountable for all that we did with our body. And we will be left with no answers. So he decided to quit. Its been 10 years and he hasnt smoked. The good news that inspite of 50 years of chain smoking, Alhamdulillah, his health is still good and his lungs and heart functioning normally. So give-up smoking today.

God will be very strict on the Day of Judgement. He will account for all our actions and the way we preserved our body. Those interested in damaging the body e.g.smoking, piercings, tattoos, body art, heavy makeup, body-building, etc.... BEWARE !!!

Basically I would say that it the individual's will power that matters. I was a continous smoker for more than 12 years, smoking up to 40 cigarettes per day, a habit I developed during my school days & continued thereafter. It was my New Millinium Resolution to quit smoking. The last cigatette that I had was on 31st December 1999. Ever since I have not touched one. Initially it seemed to be difficult, but later on got used to being without it.

Its now more than a decade of smoke free life for me & I say its wonderful & much more healthy.

I would say if I could do it ANYONE can quit. So guys...please quit before its toooo late.

Have a great smoke free life.

A piece of good info for all you dirty SMOKERS out there. I was a chain smoker for nearly 18 years, desperately needed a kick of nicotine every 4/5minutes in India, then in Q8 too, but couldn't just kick the habit.
But I made myself a strong resolution of kicking the habit, so from 1stJAN2001,decided to kick that nicotine craving for my self,Change your self & your society,You can make that change for yourself & others too.
Ever since from 1st JAN2001, I've stopped smoking and I do advice others to kick the nicotine craving--- MAKE YOURSELF A WILL POWER TO GIVE UP SMOKING FOREVER.
Since the last 9 years have been living a nicotine smoke free life, A Healthy life for myself & for my family & too others also.
All the best to You smokers, It only takes a strong WILL POWER & STRONG MINDED RESOLUTION TO CHANGE YOURSELF.

Here is another tip from me.

I was a smoker from my college days for almost 17 years, tried to quit smoking many times.

Every time after 3 to 6 months I started smoking again.

But realised it is company of the smokers that push me back to smoking. They force from friends and the main thing is the smell of burning tabacco. The smell of burnung tabacco is very powerful it pulls your attentions towards it and makes a desire to smoke. Oneday I decided again to quit smoking to do so I quit the company of the smokers and I kept distance from persons smoking and sometimes holding my nose when passing by a smoker. I quit smoking now for a year and I feel that I will never hold a cigrette in my life again.

My conclusion is to quit smoking first you have to quit smokers and then quit smoking.Final words keep away from the smell of the burning tabacco.

This is a good piece of information.

All those out there who are smokers and want to say quits to smoking here is a piece of advice from a once-upon-a time regular smoker -

Just quit smoking right now!

I have done it after about 15 years of smoking @ rate of one cigarette for every 20 minutes. Now it is my tenth year since I quit smoking without any add on habits and I feel very happy and healthy.

All the best - enjoy a non-smokers' life.
