Bhavans Kindergarten Celebrates The World Environment Day

Global warming has become a reality as the Earth and its inhabitants are facing an unprecedented situation with the rising levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. The United Nations identifies June 5 as the World Environment Day and every year a theme is chosen by UNEP to observe. Theme selected for 2019 is- “Air Pollution”.

A clean environment is very necessary to live a peaceful and healthy life. But our environment is getting dirty day by day because of human negligence.

Consequentially, our environment is getting affected to a great extent by the means of air pollution. The rapid industrialization and urbanization also have paved way for the rise of carbon monoxide in the air. Bhavan has taken a small yet meaningful step in this direction to sensitize the young children to the dangers of environmental degradation by generating awareness of the importance of protecting our environment. The kindergarten wing of IES observed the World Environment Day during the first week of June at IES Kindergarten and Jack & Jill Nursery School (branch of Bhavans at Mangaf), To mark the occasion, the children came attired in green- the color of nature.

Children brought small pots of plants to water and maintain them in the school premises for a week. They also sprouted green gram, mustard, and lentils in small containers in the classroom with the help of their teachers. Growing in pots and other containers always works well with children. Apart from learning the importance of having a ‘Green World’, Gardening helps kids to be resourceful and gain self-confidence. The Kindergarten corridor was soon transformed into a bright emerald valley with an array of assorted plants everywhere.

A solemn oath taking ceremony followed. The kids were administered the oath to preserve the nature for the posterity. A few quick snaps and merriment brought the World Environment Day celebrations to an end.
