MP want to expedite tax on expat remittance

Head of Parliament’s Human Resources Committee MP Khalil Al-Saleh wanted to expedite discussions on a report related to levying the remittances of expatriates which was issued by the Parliament’s Financial Committee and added to the parliament’s agenda.

He highlighted the recent reports of the Central Bank of Kuwait as per which the remittances of expatriates had increased to almost KD 4.2 billion last year.

Al-Saleh affirmed that he will request for the relevant proposal to be discussed during the session on May 14, insisting that the charges imposed on the remittances of expatriates will help in improving the services and contribute to increasing the state revenues.

He denied the concerns raised about the negative effects of such decisions on the real-estate sector, stressing that this policy is implemented in most countries around the world.

I think we should gracefully pay the remittance tax.... My dear countrymen or expat, please note we r being taxed only for the money which we remit to india.. These are savings and every country will be forced to levy taxes due to economic considerations... For people who almost spend their money here in Kuwait will not be impacted.

We shall remember, u r earning bcoz of our stay and job provided by this country. We shall be grateful to Kuwait for helping us feed our dependents back in India. Dont get this religious logic in this issue. Every country has to survive in this competitive world and these taxes may help this country provide basic infrastructure and needs of expats.

Please look to other side of this world....the western countries.. They pay 40% of tax there for their earning in US,UK, Canada etc.... People are not cribbing and they pay happily... ha yes. they give social security...here we dont have any..... so there is a wide difference of ( 40-5) = 35% which u can anyhow save in this country if u are not in west....
I hope people realise and get used to these things coz world is not so backward...live today. dont talk of your pasts... future is different...
Well this is my take.. If i live here.. I will pay happily if Kuwait decides.. until they are giving me job and income.

When you bring in expats to your country to help in the development of the country, they will earn money to send back to their families.

This all are the end of World very soon we all meet to Allahsubhanawotala,MP has forget that real life of Muslims is after the death,a person who won’t think life after death he is not Muslim nor he the follower of Our Beloved prophet he is worst then a kafeer simply Muslim doesn’t mean that they are follower of Islam they should follow the Quran and obey the Prophet words.

Are they real Muslims?
In Islam our prophet said give the worker his wages before his sweat dries, also give jakat to needy people... But now they want to loot expats and needy who left their family for earnings. What a shame... They can''t be real muslim for sure.

We are not sending their money. We are sending our hard earned money. God have mercy on us.

Revenues are already generated when expats work. The salary which is paid to us, is after generating revenues. And now, on what we earn, are they going generate more revenues? Do they really need a share of what we are sending to our families? This country is already blessed with Oil. The nation is reaping which they never sowed.

Not a nice move. Hope they will not ask to contribute 1 pc of Khabuz (Arabic bread) when we buy a 6 pcs pack

After few months one more study reveals how much money being paid to expat as salary. And some M.P will come with some proposal like expats should work for free.
One big question is there any study how much trillions of money Kuwaiti business men investing in U.S , Europe, China, Japan, etc..
This money not affecting Kuwait economy ?
Why not tax on these citizen remittances ? Why only tax on poor expat remittances ?
Hypocrisy...

This M.P don''t want expat to send money to his home to feed his family and parents. Please give some wisdom.
Once you paid salary, It is expats money.
You don''t have any right on it.
Whether he spends in Kuwait, or give it as charity or send home, it is up to him.
Western and European countries gives PR (permanent residents) or citizenship to NRI''s, So they don''t send money back home. They make property there only.
Here in GCC there is no such concept or PR or citizenship. Expat has make some assets back home, as one day he has to go back home.

Mr. MP Please do something for the expatriates whose salaries are held up in companies. We have not sent our money to our families for more than 4 months.
