The Auspicious Month Of Ramadan

"Ramadan is the month whose beginning is mercy, whose middle is forgiveness and whose end is freedom from fire.”

~ [Prophet Mohammad (PBUH)]

The most important and awaited month of Muslims is here. Ramadan is here! Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam. Ramadan is also called as the holy month of Quran. It is celebrated on the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. Ramadan is the holy month when our prophet Muhammad pbuh got the first revelation of Quran. The book of high wisdom.

The prophet Muhammad told: “When the month of Ramadan stars, the gates of heaven are opened and the gates of hell are closed and the devils are chained.”

Muslims fast during this month for 29/30 days. Along with fasting they increase reading Quran and remembering the creator of the world- Allah. Along with that they also do a lot of charity to help the needy. Ramadan is a month during which Muslims abstain from wrong deeds. They work hard to help the mankind all over the world. With their pious deeds, they help to transform this world into a better place by helping the needy. During Ramadan, the Muslims wake up before Fajr to eat suhoor and after a good light meal, they offer the Fajr prayer. They spend the day fasting and remembering Allah, sending duas and reading Quran. Later in the evening before Maghrib, delicious mouth-watering dishes are cooked. After the Maghrib prayer, Muslims break their fast by eating a date. Eating dates is an age long practise because our prophet used to eat dates for breaking his fast. Today scientists have proven that dates are excellent to eat after fasting as it contains sugar, fibre and carbohydrate which will be light on the stomach.

"(It was) the month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Quran, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the criterion (between right and wrong). So whoever of you sights (the crescent on the first night of) the month (of Ramadan i.e. is present at his home), he must observe Sawm (fasts) that month…"

~ [al-Baqarah 2:185]

All the Muslims around the world look forward to Ramadan. After a month of serenity, the Muslims celebrate Eid wholeheartedly. During Ramadan, I look forward to the various delicious yummy food that my mom cooks. This includes her traditional sewai, kheer, meetha tukra and many more.

Ramadan celebration is one of the most important activities in Kuwait. The markets in Kuwait gets flooded with a variety of new clothes, perfume and accessories. There are various functions around the corner in Kuwait. Orchestra, musical performance, henna art, face painting games for little children are some of the most common events along with fireworks in Alkout.

People celebrate and spread happiness. Ramadan the sacred month brings blessings and happiness for even those sleeping on the streets as they are helped by others who give them food and clothes. During this month, everyone gets surrounded by peace and happiness sent from Allah. The day of Eid begins with the Eid namaz. After which people meet and greet each other. They serve them happiness and glad tidings. Sewai is one of the most important sweet dishes prepared on that day. And the best part of the day is the time when children get Eidi which includes gifts and money.

The Laylatul Qadr - The night of power is the night when the first verses of the Holy Quran was revealed to the prophet. According to the Quran, this night is better than one thousand months. Muslims all over the world believe that on this night sins are forgiven, duas are accepted and annual decree is revealed to the angles.

The month of Ramadan helps to change people into better persons. It teaches the true value of being human. The worshippers of Allah are immensely and heavenly blessed by Allah himself. By fasting, praying and through charity in these 30 days, the believers create a better future for them in the hereafter. The sacred month of Ramadan teaches us how to be a better version of ourselves. And how through humanity we can shape this world into a better one. Ramadan is a time of gratitude and thanksgiving to Allah.

Ramadan Mubarak

"Ramadhan is here, Here is Ramadhan. Ramadhan is coming, The time that is blessed. Ramadhan is coming, The time we love best. The month in which the Qur'an was sent; A time of great blessing in which to repent. Fasting for Allah is a great Muslim deed; Controlling desires and Suppressing greed. "
