Interior Minister Sheikh Khaled AlJarrah said the total number of vehicles registered to Kuwaitis is 1,039,000, while those owned by expats number only 616,000. He added 22,000 driving licenses of Kuwaitis and 15,000 of expats were withdrawn for committing severe traffic violations.

Sheikh Khaled elaborated that licenses held by Kuwaitis include 607,000 private licenses, 10,000 general, 6,400 for bikes and 146 for construction machinery, while those issued to expats include 909,000 general licenses, 730,000 private ones, 6,200 for bikes and 18,000 for construction machinery.

Interior ministry and the manpower authority are electronically linked to verify applicants’ job titles and minimum salary conditions for expats. If an expat returns to Kuwait, they can file a new application for a license after two years.

SO, U MEAN THAT A PERSON WHO HAS BEEN DRIVING DAY AND NIGHT IN ALL THE NOOKS AND CORNERS OF KUWAIT FOR THE LAST TWO YEARS AND WHO HAS BEEN IN KUWAIT FOR THE LAST 13 YEARS, MUST UNDERGO DRIVING TEST EVERY YEAR TO PROVE THAT HE STILL KNOWS DRIVING.
YOU HAVE VERY GOOD BRAIN! DON''T USE IT! KEEP IT SAFE.

Having an educational degree or not having one.... what it has to do with driving license?? What is the use if a person have highest degree and no driving skills?
To have a license, a person should go through an advanced driving test.... That is when you will find disciplined drivers on Kuwait roads..
Noticed people having full knowledge of steering wheel, lights, gas & break pedals but no knowledge of driving rules/laws

I Contacted BEnglis, Hindis and all the tea boys available in the traffic dept. And I offered a fair amount also not just 20 KD, the normal bribe rate. They told me that I would not get even if I pay 1000 KD for license renewal. Then I am looking for the new option.
Now, when I approach the muroor, without even looking my application, they just ask only one question .
where is mandoob?
I have no idea what Mandoub has to do with my private license when I fulfill all the criteria required.
This is a wonderful country who needs expats but don''t want to facilitate their life.
Anyway I believe in God! and I hope that they themselves will change the law or God will force them to change it!

out of total of 1,664,000 valid driving licenses , mostly those issued after 2011 are by wasta.
Also most of 730,000 private ones are for housewives with poor driving skills.

The above statement is wrong! My license was cancelled when my profession was changed from Manager to Administrator even though I meet all the requirements.
Now they are asking to apply for a new license and get license after passing eye test, written test and driving test.
A beautiful law that we will never see anywhere else in the world!
