150TH Birth Anniversary celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi and its essence at ICSK

ICSK in collaboration with the Indian Embassy flagged off the one year celebration on 2nd October in the school. As per the Government of India, all institutions affiliated to CBSE have been instructed to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi by organizing variety of activities in the school campus throughout the year, starting from October 2, 2018. An illustrative list of activities that can be organized at the School level namely are ‘Swachh Bharat’, Multi –faith prayers, Shramdaan, taking pledge , Seminars, debates on the ideal of Non-Violence and Communal Harmony, Presentations on Gandhiji’s life and work, Study visits.

ICSK took the lead and conducted special cultural programmes to commemorate the celebrations on the eve of 150th birth anniversary of the ‘father of nation’.

Dr V.Binumon, Principal & Senior Administrator welcomed the jamboree. He congratulated the students, staff and teachers for organizing a spectacular show. He threw light on the life and great personality of Mahatma Gandhi and how he led India in the freedom struggle. Dr Haila Al-Mekaimi, Professor of Political Science department, University of Kuwait enlightened the audience with an inspirational talk ‘Sathya Vartha’ about Mahatma Gandhi’s life. His Excellency, Ambassador of India to Kuwait, Sri K. Jeeva Sagar graced the function.H.E. Sheikha Fadyah Saad A.S.Al Sabah , granddaughter of former Prime Minister of Kuwait ennobled this function and made it more eventful by planting saplings in the campus. Mr. Krishna Kumar Pahel, First Secretary, Indian Embassy and Mr. Sanjay Saklani ‘s presence added allure to the programme.

As a part of its social initiatives, the school undertook a number of activities on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti extolling the Gandhian Principles and his life. The 150th birth anniversary of our Father of Nation, Mahatma Gandhi was celebrated with great zeal and patriotism throughout the nation. On this occasion, in order to pay tribute to Gandhiji and to encourage the students to follow the path shown by him, ICSK organized multiple activities. A mesmerizing ‘Dance Drama’, through powerful narration ,highlighted Gandhiji as a person of dedication, will-power and devotion enthralled the audience.

A frenzy of patriotism encapsulated the audience when the Dandi March was enacted. The students made a great impact through a tableau of ‘The Gyarah Murti’ (Eleven Figures) representing Gandhiji’s march to the sea in a defiance of the Salt Satyagraha. Mrs. Siji Alex motivated the students with her speech.

As a token of appreciation, a memento was presented by the school Chairman, Mr. Shaik Abdul Rahiman to the dignitaries, Dr Haila Al-Mekaimi, Professor of Political Science department, University of Kuwait and H.E. Sheikha Fadyah Saad A.S.Al Sabah, granddaughter of former Prime Minister of Kuwait .Mr. Rajesh Nair. C, Principal, Amman branch presented the vote of thanks. He profusely thanked the dignitaries for sparing time to be a part of the great event marking the 150th Birth Anniversary Celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi.

The Gandhi Jayanti function was celebrated in true spirit by the students of ICSK who wholeheartedly contributed their efforts and resources.
