Study to implement tolls on selected roads

Wednesday, September 5, 2018

A study is currently ongoing to charge fees for using some roads in Kuwait, said Director General of the Public Authority for Roads and Transportation Engineer Ahmad Al-Hossan. This would be considered a service for motorists in order to help alleviate traffic congestion, he added.

Once implemented, it would be up to drivers who ‘wish to be distinguished’ by using these roads, he added.

It will be impractical and tedious in the fast tracks of Kuwait roads.
Instead of that, the wise idea will be to charge 5-10 KD as yearly road user''s fee PER every license issual /renewal and per every vehicle registration / renewal.
In Order to increase the collection, allow license to all and withdraw all the requirements on license issual.
The only criteria should be to pass written and practical test.
Kuwait turns a piece of he''ll in summer and these kinds of restrictions make the lives of expacts literally miserable.

Please expats do not post anything that will be blaming and undermining the decisions of the rule makers here. It can go against you. We are not that comfortable and rich in our countries and hence we opted for a more comfortable and easy environment by applying continuously and standing for hours in lines praying to come here.

" who ‘wish to be distinguished’ "...haha nice words for an excuse.
why not highlighting the real reason that is total failure of all round planning & execution of PUBLIC TRANSPORT - METRO - LICENSE ISSUANCE- lack of multi level car parks - 100 Buildings in one block where the roads are still the same size as 1975 (eg.the road next to KUWAIT BUSINESS TOWN in sharq) etc. anyways GOOD LUCK.

Let study be done for few more years .

More study has to be performed, as the toll roads will be empty and whole traffic will be diverted to toll-free roads and such roads will be heavily crowded. Better think of resolving the issue by upgrading the roads, not with ideas which will create more issues.
